Members of Nunavut's Nanivara community development project contemplate the globe from Oslo, Norway this week; from left, Natasha Uttak (Naujaat), Rene Angotialuk (Naujaat), Erica Tungilik (Gjoa Haven), Barbara Okpik (Gjoa Haven), Robin Ikkutisluk (Gjoa Haven), Benoit Sateana (Naujaat) and University of British Columbia facilitator Tessa Terbasket. The youth from Gjoa Haven and Naujaat are in Norway this week presenting to the Arctic Indigenous Education conference in Guovdageaidnu, a northern Saami community. Following in the footsteps of the Arviat-based Nanisiniq project, the group is working to explore the social history of their communities through digital media, and increase knowledge sharing with local elders.
