Natan Obed, the new president of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, takes his oath of office in Cambridge Bay Sept. 17 just minutes after ITK members and delegates elected him to the position. ITK staff member Peter Geikie announced that Obed won with 54 per cent of the 13 ballots that were cast. Obed succeeds former president Terry Audla, who had sought re-election, and candidate Jerry Komaksiutiksak. Obed will serve a three-year term. Read more on Nunatsiaqonline.ca.
