Igloolik residents enrolled in a four-week small vessel operator program learn to mend nets this month in that north Baffin community. The program, offered through funding from the Nunavut Fisheries and Marine Training Consortium and the Hamlet of Igloolik, ran from Nov. 23 to Dec. 18 and included 10 male and female students. From instructor Wayne Tucker, they learned how to safely operate small craft on Nunavut waters including basic First Aid, marine radio operator protocols and how to deal with emergencies.
