Photo: New colouring book promotes Inuktitut

Colour it blue, if you chose, or leave it white: this polar bear is included in the “Colour-in-Culture” Inuktitut colouring book which shows drawings of different cultural symbols like a seal, drying fish, ulus, throat-singing, drum dancing, a feast and a walrus. The comic book, which will be available in all Nunavut libraries, shows the name of each image in syllabics, along with an English and French translation. The book also includes a legend to help understand Inuktitut syllabics. The creator of the colouring book, Pascale Arpin, said she made the 26-page book to help promote Inuktitut.
