Photo: Norwegian tug frozen in and waiting for spring

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

The Tandberg Polar, the tug boat which a Norwegian group hopes will pull Roald Amundsen's sunken Maud from Cambridge Bay to its new home across the ocean in Norway, sits frozen in ice Jan. 13 with the new sun peeking through its upper deck. The Maud group, lead by Jan Wanggaard, had hoped to repatriate the historic ship in summer 2014 but ocean-bound delays on their voyage from Norway scuttled those plans. They hope to make another attempt this summer. (PHOTO BY DENISE LEBLEU IMAGES)
