Photo: Not home, but still smiling, for the holidays

Some Nunavummiut get stuck far from home over the holidays. That was the case for six-year-old Victor of Whale Cove, left, who’s recovering from a bone marrow transplant at a Winnipeg hospital. But many family members and friends have helped keep Victor smiling since he entered hospital July 19. Victor’s mother, Louisa Ulurksit, thanked everyone for their support during this emotional medical ordeal. “God bless you all and your whole family,” she said Dec. 25 — and Victor says “Merry Christmas” to everyone back home.
