Photo: NS students rally at pro-sealing demo in Ottawa

Students from Nunavut Sivuniksavut, the Ottawa-based college program for Nunavut Inuit, carry placards with pro-sealing messages, like “Save the Baby Veal- Avoid Cultural Prejudice,” for an April 24 pro-sealing demonstration in front of the Parliament buildings in Ottawa. Their demonstration took place a day before the Luxembourg-based General Court of the European Union plans to hand down its decision on an appeal filed by Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami and others against the seal ban, which came into force in 2010 among the 27 EU member nations.
