Photo: Nunavik also talks mining

Johnny Peters, Makivik Corp.’s vice-president for renewable resources, at the 2013 Kuujjuaq mining workshop, where he talked about his experiences with environmental damage caused by mining activities. The workshop took place at the same time as the larger Nunavut Mining Symposium in Iqaluit. Sessions at Kuujjuaq’s Kaitittavik town hall covered employment, health and safety, the environment, and updates on the region’s two mines and other promising exploration projects.
