Photo: Nunavik police officer honoured for years of service

Kativik Regional Police Force Const. Timothy Sangoya, left, stands with KRPF chief Michel Martin at the Quebec Aboriginal Chiefs of Police annual meeting in Quebec City June 9. There, Sangoya was honoured with an award recognizing his years of service in Nunavik. Sangoya began as a supernumerary special constable with the KRPF in 1998 — just two years after the force was established. Sangoya has spent much of his career policing in Tasiujaq, and moved to the position of regular constable in 2015. “Const. Sangoya is an inspiration who is serving as a significant role model for younger generations of Inuit looking to policing as a career,” said the Kativik Regional Government in a June 22 release.
