The Pitakallak Elementary School Spring Carnival's king and queen — Douglas Robertson and Aiva Lingard — wave to their friends in Kuujjuaq April 22. Each year, the school gathers the names of Grade 3 students who have exhibited good behaviour, puts them in a hat and then chooses a boy and girl to be king and queen. The royal privilege is reserved to Grade 3 students only since they will be moving on to Jaanimmarik School next year. The annual carnival is always a hit with students and includes activities both indoors and out. (PHOTO BY ISABELLE DUBOIS)
