Inukjuak youth Sasha Kokiapik poses at the start of her ride in this year’s La Grande Traversée, a major pan-Canadian cycling event. Kokiapik, 17, is cycling a 500-kilometre stretch of the ride through southern Quebec this week, with the support of her coach Joé Juneau. Kokiapik worked with Juneau for years while she played hockey under the Nunavik Youth Hockey Development program, from which she graduates this year.
