Photo: Nunavut artists celebrates 90th year

Pangnirtung artist Elisapee Ishulutaq, shown here in a recent photo from the Uqqumiut centre for arts and crafts, is now 90 years old: she celebrated her 90th birthday Oct. 28. Born in 1925 in Kagiqtuqjuaq, Ishulutaq settled in what is now known as Pangnirtung in the late 1960s. That's when she started taking part in the community's new art-making program, quickly building a reputation for her carving and drawings skills. Ishulutaq, whose work is on display at the National Art Gallery in Ottawa,  is still drawing to this day. (SUBMITTED PHOTO)
