Photo: Nunavut candidates spar in three-hour debate

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Down to the wire: Conservative incumbent MP Leona Aglukkaq, New Democrat Jack Anawak and Liberal Hunter Tootoo Oct. 13 at Iqaluit's Anglican Parish Hall, where it was standing room only as crowds flocked to see how Nunavut candidates would hold up in CBC North's candidates' debate with less than a week to go before the federal election. Aglukkaq sparred with Anawak and Tootoo over audience questions on the long-gun registry, airline codesharing, missing and murdered Aboriginal women and, of course, Nutrition North. The three-hour debate, moderated by CBC North host Kevin Kablutsiak, saw Tootoo and Aglukkaq facing off repeatedly, head to head, while Anawak attempted to take the high road — focusing on his NDP platform.
