Nunavut Health and Social Services Minister Keith Peterson switched on the territory’s Blue Light anti-smoking campaign March 8, which aims to shine the light on non-smoking households across the territory. The campaign was borrowed from Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami and integrated into the Government of Nunavut’s latest “Tobacco Has No Place Here” campaign to cut back on the territory’s high smoking rates. Non-smoking Nunavummiut can pick up a blue light bulb or a battery-operated tea light at their local health centre. In Iqaluit, the lights will be distributed at Northmart March 8 and 9.
