The Nunavut Department of Culture and Heritage unveiled the books — one on Inuit kinship terms and another on Inuit parenting — on May 26, the first day of the assembly’s spring sitting. The book on kinship terminology came out of family relations workshops with youth and elders held across Nunavut between 2010 and 2012, Culture Minister George Kuksuk said in the assembly. The parenting book, written by elder Elijah Erkloo, is based on interviews and reflections aimed at providing insights into Inuit parenting, Kuksuk said. (PHOTO BY THOMAS ROHNER)
