Photo: Nunavut RCMP constable honoured for service

Nunavut RCMP Cst. Jeremy Johnston holds up a sculpture and certificate recognizing him for his service to policing in Nunavut, presented to him by the hamlet of Kugluktuk this past week. Johnston is transferring out of territory after working for three and half years in the Kitikmeot community, the RCMP’s longest-serving local member. Cst. Johnston and his wife, a community home care nurse, first moved to Nunavut in 2013, after previously being stationed in the Maritimes and in Alberta. “Coming up north and being posted in Kugluktuk was one of the best decisions we have ever made,” Johnston said. “As soon as we arrived in the Kugluktuk we felt like we were accepted with open arms. Kugluktuk is always going to be very special for us, along with our 4 year old son who has spent the majority of his life up here.” (PHOTO COURTESY OF THE RCMP)
