Photo: Nunavut starts new tobacco reduction program

This graph from the Nunavut Tobacco Reduction Framework for Action shows how high the percentage of smokers over 12 years is in Nunavut compared to other jurisdictions in Canada. In his introduction to the five-year “Tobacco Has No Place Here” action plan, Nunavut Health Minister Tagak Curley says “smoking is a root cause of many of the health problems affecting Nunavummiut. Far too many Nunavummiut have become sick, disabled, or have died prematurely as a result of tobacco use.
