Photo: Past and future of the Arctic Council

The Munk-Gordon Arctic Security Program’s second annual forum kicked off Jan. 17 in Toronto with a panel discussion on the past and future of the Arctic Council, moderated by former Nunatsiaq MP Peter Ittinuar (far left). The panelists (from left) are Jane Glassco Arctic fellows Daniel T’seleie and Kyla Kakfwi-Scott; John Lambe, former director of the Canadian Centre for Arms Control and Disarmament’s and executive director of Nunavut Tunngavik Inc.; and Terry Fenge, a consultant who was worked many years for Inuit organizations. Here, Kakfwi-Scott tells the forum that the Arctic Council must use its role to represent indigenous peoples and especially youth. The forum wraps up Jan. 18.
