Photo: Pauktuutit AGM kicks off in Ottawa

A qulliq flickers at the front of the room as Rebecca Kudloo, the president of Pauktuutit, the Inuit women’s association, chairs the first morning of the organization’s annual general meeting in Ottawa, which started May 12. Kudloo used her president’s report to call for better services to combat family violence in Inuit communities throughout the Arctic, and delegates later had an impromptu discussion on human trafficking. This afternoon, the organization was to name this year’s Inuit Woman of the Year award recipient. The meeting continues through the morning of May 13. Read more later on nunatsiaqonline.ca.
