Expensive rocks: the eight-sided 8.87 carat diamond in the middle of this photo has an estimated market value of US $36,158, said a valuation report released Feb. 26 by Peregrine Diamonds Ltd. The diamond was found within a 404.2-tonne bulk sample extracted in 2013 from Peregrine’s CH-6 kimberlite pipe, about 120 km northeast of Iqaluit. A 1,013.5-carat parcel of commercial size diamonds taken from the bulk sample is worth at least $215,605, the report found. Read more later on nunatsiaqonline.ca.
