Photo: Plane ends off the runway in Kimmirut

A Kenn Borek Twin Otter went off the runway in Kimmirut Dec. 6, when the cargo plane’s tire reportedly blew and pushed the aircraft into a snowbank. Local residents say no one was injured. The aircraft was still stuck alongside the runway on the morning of Dec. 7. The runway was scheduled to re-open some time in the afternoon of Dec. 7. (PHOTO COURTESY OF BILLY AKAVAK)
