Standing next to Nunavut and Canadian flags, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announces Aug. 22 in Rankin Inlet the renewal of funding for the second phase of Natural Resources Canada’s Geo-Mapping for Energy and Minerals, or GEM program. Since 2008, the GEM program has produced more than 700 maps and reports, “providing the exploration industry with valuable tools to explore Canada’s North,” the backgrounder to Harper’s announcement said.
