January may be cold and dark near the Arctic Circle but without the darkness, how would you see the light show? With Pangnirtung glowing in the distance Jan. 3, photographer David Kilabuk set up his tripod on the ice after getting a call from his “better half” telling him about the ribbons of aurora waving above town. He said it wasn’t too cold and he kept himself warm by doing exercises and singing between those long timed exposures. “It’s the best time to sing as nobody can hear me,” he said in an email. He called this shot “front row seat.” (PHOTO BY DAVID KILABUK)
