Photo: Qanurli kicks off fifth production season

The first day of shooting for season 5 of the Inuktut-language comedy series Qanurli?, featuring lead characters Inuk Qablunaaq (Anguti Johnston) and Nipangui Huittuq (Vinnie Karetak), wrapped up Oct. 5 in Iqaluit. The show’s producers, Anguti Johnston, Vinnie Karetak, Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Joshua Qaumariaq announced this week that they’ve launched their own Inuit-owned, Iqaluit-based production company, Qanukiaq Studios, which will produce this season of Qanurli in association with the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. “The team promises that Qanurli’s special flavour of ‘maktaaq on cardboard’ will remain strong and delicious and that the new soya sauce they’re trying out this season is pretty awesome!” producers said Oct. 5.
