Photo: RCMP addresses Nutaraluk inquest recommendations

Supt. Hilton Smee of Nunavut RCMP “V” division tells reporters March 15 that the RCMP will carefully review recommendations made March 14 by a coroner’s inquest jury that heard evidence on the Dec. 9, 2009 death of Adamie Nutaraluk, 56, in RCMP cells. “The RCMP takes the care and handling of its prisoners very seriously,” Smee said. Smee said the RCMP will need “some time” to review those recommendations to consider how they would affect the practices of the Iqaluit detachment and “V” division.
