Photo: RCMP announces transfer of March 20 shooting investigation

A team of investigators from the Ottawa Police Service, assisted by RCMP members from the Northwest Territories, will conduct “an independent external investigation” into a March 20 shooting by an RCMP member in Igloolik that left a man dead, Supt. Hilton Smee, the officer in charge of criminal investigations at Nunavut’s “V” Division, said at a late-afternoon news conference in Iqaluit. “I want to take this time to express my condolences to the family and the friends, and the community of Igloolik.
