Photo: Recognizing excellence in Nunavik’s tourism industry

Allen Gordon of the Nunavik Tourism Association stands with the organization’s 2015 award winner Elijah Watt on Feb. 5 during their annual general meeting in Kuujjuaq. Every year the tourism association recognizes someone who has contributed to tourism development in Nunavik. “Elijah first started guiding prospectors, then became an outfitter and owned a fishing lodge for 10 years from 1975 at the Whale River, employing many Kuujjuamiut. At his camp is where I also guided tourists for the very first time at age 12,” Gordon said on Facebook. (PHOTO COURTESY OF ALLEN GORDON)
