Photo: Rosy and gray: Arctic sunset paints colours on snow

Rosy and gray: it’s nearly impossible to describe the beauty of an Arctic sunset to someone who’s never seen one but a photo is worth a thousand words. Cambridge Bay photographer Denise Lebleu captured this scene behind the North Warning System site at the end of March — a spray of orange, coral and pink on a white canvas. According to timeanddate.com, Cambridge Bay will gain nearly an entire hour of sunlight within the next week, with the sun rising at 4 a.m. by April 28 and setting at around 10 p.m. By this time next month, around May 20, Cambridge Bay’s sunsets will disappear and residents will experience 24-hour sunlight until late July when the sun will start dipping below the horizon again.
