Photo: Saali and the Ravenhearts play to sold-out Iqaluit crowd

Saali Keelan and fellow musicians perform to a sold-out crowd at Inuksuk High School in Iqaluit, Jan. 18. About 300 spectators took in fan favourites and brand new tunes by the Ottawa-based Inuk singer-songwriter and his band from Montreal, who play as Saali and The Ravenhearts. “It’s cold, but it’s so good, I love it,” Saali chuckled during a break in the concert, as brutally cold winds chilled the city to – 57 C outside.”We’re received so well. I like the energy right now, it’s great.” Saali will also play a solo show in Igloolik Jan. 20 as part of a short visit to Nunavut organized by the Alianait Arts Festival. Proceeds from the Igloolik performance will go to the family of Joey Ammaq, a musician and Artcirq performer who recently died. (PHOTO BY PETER VARGA)
