Photo: Seal it with a kiss — Iqalungmiut celebrate the seal

Who’s hungry? Mamaqtuq! Iqalungmiut gathered by the dozens April 17 to skin seal, eat seal and shop for sealskin products during the annual celebration of the seal event outside Nakasuk School. Nunavut Environment Minister Johnny Mike later spoke to a crowd in the Nakasuk gym as people gathered for a community feast. “Wildlife has sustained Nunavut for generations and ensured our survival,” he said.
