Photo: Shuvinai Ashoona in new Toronto “Earthlings” exhibition

An upcoming exhibition called “Earthlings” at Toronto’s Feheley Fine Arts includes this work by Cape Dorset’s Shuvinai Ashoona’s “Happy 55th Birthday,” a coloured pencil and ink drawing from 2016. “Earthlings,” which runs from March 11 to April 8, also includes the works of Roger Aksadjuak, Pierre Aupilardjuk, Shary Boyle, Jessie Kenalogak, John Kurok and Leo Napayok. Boyle, who organized the exhibition a the beckoning of the Esker Foundation, had this to say on Feheley’s website about what visitors will see: “I think of this work, my own included, as ‘bridge art;’ it spans between things, between people, animals, space and the earth.
