Iqaluit's Napatsi Folger reads selections from her upcoming collection of writings

Iqaluit’s Napatsi Folger reads selections from her upcoming collection of writings “A Town on Fire” to a near capacity crowd at Iqaluit’s Unikkaarvik Visitors Centre, March 15. Folger’s collection of interconnected short stories showcase richly developed characters struggling with the realities of life in Nunavut’s capital, and the sometimes inescapable injustices of a small town. “No matter how successful you are as an individual, you will have this as a base in your life, in your family somewhere. You’ll have this experience somewhere with someone that you know and care about. And that’s the point of me writing these stories,” Folger said about the hardships many native Iqalungmiut face growing up. Folger has completed seven of an expected 10 stories for the collection.
