David Joanasie, MLA for South Baffin, delivers an apology to fellow members of Nunavut’s Legislative Assembly at the start of the fall sitting, Oct. 21, after George Hickes, MLA of Iqaluit-Tasiluk, far left, tabled a motion to censure him for a drunk driving charge he pled guilty to in Prince Edward Island this past summer. Members passed the motion unanimously. Hickes said the censure is a disciplinary measure that “has no impact” on Joanasie's day-to-day duties. “It’s just giving notice that the circumstances of what happened are not to be tolerated,” Hickes said.
