There’s still open ocean off shore but the pond is frozen in Sanikiluaq, which makes for an ideal skating rink for kids in the Belcher Islands community. Because of its southern location, at 56º North latitude, Sanikiluaq residents are still enjoying seven-hour days, with sunrises around 8:30 a.m. and sunsets around 3:40 p.m. (PHOTO BY SARAH MEEKO)
