A city in snow: the city of Iqaluit suspended services early Mar. 4 with the onset of a winter storm. All Iqaluit schools and daycares are closed, along with Government of Nunavut offices and the legislative assembly. Environment Canada reports -16 C with northwesterly winds at 64 km/h gusting to 79 km/h. Winds are expected to increase to 90 km/h later this morning. Windchill makes it about -31 C, if anyone's outside to feel it. The City of Iqaluit says all municipal services are suspended. Fire and ambulance service will be provided

All Iqaluit schools and daycares are closed, along with Government of Nunavut offices and the legislative assembly. Environment Canada reports -16 C with northwesterly winds at 64 km/h gusting to 79 km/h. Winds are expected to increase to 90 km/h later this morning. Fire and ambulance service will be provided “unless it is deemed unsafe,” says a Mar. 4 news release. You can hear a recorded message from the city at 979-5300. The Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit is also closed. All matters scheduled for today are moved to the next business day, which, weather permitting, would be Mar. 7 Stay tuned for more updates.
