Photo: The golden sunrise of Arctic winter

We featured a photo of an afternoon Arctic sunset in Iqaluit last week so we thought we’d follow up with a shot of the sun’s rise over Frobisher Bay Nov. 27. With the shortest day of the year fast approaching, Iqaluit is rapidly bleeding daylight at a rate of five minutes a day. Sunrise in Iqaluit is around 8:35 a.m. and sunset is around 2:30 p.m. now, but not for long. Further north in Nunavut, the sun has all but disappeared until 2016. (PHOTO BY THOMAS ROHNER)
