Photo: Susan Aglukark appointed to university fellowship

Nunavut singer-songwriter Susan Aglukark is the University of Saskatchewan’s latest Aboriginal Fellow in Creativity. The appointment, says the university, is “designed to attract internationally renowned Aboriginal creative thinkers, practitioners and artists to the University of Saskatchewan.” The fellowship allows the Juno award-winning Aglukark to teach a class focusing on, “the journey of finding your creative self through music,” and “learning how to use art as a tool to keep you focused on goals and dreams,” says a university news release. Aglukark said she plans to talk about, “how I found myself accidentally in a career,” and “how quickly the choice became using art as a healing tool.” She also plans to explore how an artist must become a business partner and how technology has changed the music industry.
