Photo: Sweet Lowdown help kick off annual Alianait festival

Acoustic roots band The Sweet Lowdown came all the way from Vancouver Island to help kick off the 2015 Alianait Arts Festival June 26 at the Qulliq concert at Nakasuk School in Iqaluit. The festival, which runs until July 1, features a full line-up of traditional, contemporary and world music at various locations around town including Nakasuk, the big top tent downtown and the elder’s Qammaq. Saturday’s concert at Nakasuk features Arviat’s Agaaqtoq, Greenland indie rockers Nanook as well as Nova Scotia’s multi-talented singer-songwriter David Myles.
