Master igloo builder Solomon Awa (blue parka) led a handful of Iqalungmiut in the building of a traditional snow house outside the Unikkaarvik Visitors Centre in Nunavut’s capital Feb. 15. The construction lesson, hosted by Nunavut Tourism, is one of many events hosted by the visitor’s centre throughout the winter including a weekly Arctic/Inuit movie night on Thursdays and Inuit Art experiences with local artists on Saturdays.
