The holiday lights are on in Iqaluit: a -42 C temperature with the windchill didn't stop hundreds of spectators from filling the parking lot of the Nunavut Legislative Assembly in Iqaluit Dec. 3 for the 17th annual Christmas Lights Across Canada ceremony. After a brief introduction by Commissioner of Nunavut Nellie Kusugak, assisted by the choir from Joamie Elementary School , Christmas lights around the legislature were switched on — marking the official start of the holiday season in Nunavut's capital.
