Photo: The Kujacks with Kuujjuaq’s mayor

Paul Parsons, the mayor of Kuujjuaq (centre) stands with the namesake of his community, Joerg Kujack (left) and his girlfriend Sabine Warzel (right), on June 4 outside the town hall. Kujack, a Lufthansa jet pilot who lives in Baden-Baden, Germany, noticed 25 years ago that Kuujjuaq’s radar beacon was spelled in the same way as his last name. Kujack then decided to visit the Nunavik community someday. Since their arrival on June 2, the Kujack and Warzel have enjoyed some of the best weather that Kuujjuaq ever sees, attended a local birthday party, gone on a picnic outside town, and met the mayor, among other people.
