Photo: The power and the glory

The interior of the reconstructed St. Jude’s Cathedral in Iqaluit, which was officially dedicated in a service held June 3, closely resembles the building that was gutted by fire in 2005. One distinctive feature is the oculus, or skylight, that sits about 40 feet above the nave, the part of the church where the congregation sits. Regular church services will start next Sunday, June 10, with an English service at 9:45 a.m. and Inuktitut at 11:00 a.m. (PHOTO BY JIM BELL)
