A national Inuit reunion: Mikka Komaksiutiksak of Toronto, Tina Pisuktie of Montreal and Nicole Luke of Winnipeg were among many urban Inuit who bonded and shared experiences at an urban Inuit gathering in Ottawa this past Nov. 5 and Nov. 6. Organizers plan a follow-up meeting for March 2016, in a city that has yet to be determined. Next year, they hope to complete a national urban Inuit strategy that will help build fledgling Inuit community organizations in cities across the country and articulate the unique needs of the 16,000 or more Inuit who live in southern Canada.
