Nine-year-old Nunavut hockey prodigy Atiqtalaaq ‘Q’ Uuttuvak won’t be going to Russia this year. More than a dozen players backed out of the trip meaning the team had to fold. But Q, whose talents and drive have won the hearts of many Nunatsiaq News readers, is still hoping to go to a similar elite select tournament in Prague and Budapest on July 21. Uuttuvak’s family continues to fundraise for the trip — Q’s mother, Anita Uuttuvak, said July 15 that generous donors have contributed $5,497 to the campaign so far. All who donate will be eligible for some prizes the family has rounded up including free hotel accommodations in Ottawa.
