Toonik Tyme is now in full swing: Jocelyn St-Amand lines up a shot at the ice golf event on day one of Toonik Tyme April 11. Denise Hutchings has organized the event for well over a decade, and she said the tournament gets competitive. “It is unusual and we get people from all walks of life here,” Hutchings said. “Some of them were just recently in Abu Dhabi and golfed — and they’re gonna golf at 1 p.m. here,” she said. Coloured golf balls help them remain visible on snow and ice and the nine-hole course is constructed by RL Hansen Construction Ltd. Today is adult golf, which is fully booked, but free family golf will take place April 13, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., opposite the Arctic Winter Games arena. (PHOTO BY DAVID MURPHY)
