Travis Cooper, chair of the Toonik Tyme Society, holds up a plate of muktuk at a fundraising lunch in the Iqaluit francophone centre Feb. 7. Close to 60 people turned up for the “multicultural lunch,” to which people brought different ethnic dishes. “It’s just the way Nunavut is nowadays. We have so many people from all over the world to create such a diverse atmosphere,” Cooper said. At $15 a head for lunch, Cooper said the fundraising lunch was a way to “give back to the community [while] providing a meal at a reasonable price.” Toonik Tyme will run from April 11 to April 20.
