Two participants in the April 2012 Toonik Tyme tea boiling and bannock making competition, held outside Iqaluit's Nakasuk elementary school, concentrate as they cook. Toonik Tyme 2013's official opening ceremonies take place April 12 at 7 p.m. in the Iqaluit Curling Rink, although some activities, such as a family sliding event, start during the morning and afternoon of the 12th. April 12 is a civic holiday in Iqaluit, although schools and Government of Nunavut offices remain open until noon, and many businesses, including Nunatsiaq News, will stay open all day. But city offices will be closed. No municipal truck services will operate April 12, and call-outs for trucked water and sewer services will cost $250, the city said. (FILE PHOTO)
