Hunter Tootoo and George Hickes Jr. of Iqaluit pick up candidate declaration forms from Elections Nunavut Sept. 23 to run in the 2013 territorial election. “This is the fourth one that I’ve picked up papers for,” said Tootoo, former cabinet minister and speaker of the last legislative assembly, who just completed his third term as MLA. Tootoo’s old seat, Iqaluit Centre, has disappeared and he has yet to choose which constituency to contest. His cousin Hickes intends to run for the first time. The two must decide which seats in Iqaluit to contest by Friday, Sept. 27 at 2:00 p.m. (PHOTO BY PETER VARGA)
