Kativik Regional Government chair Maggie Emudluk, left, and Makivik Corp. president Jobie Tukkiapik address public hearings on uranium mining in Quebec which visited Kangiqsualujjuaq Dec. 3. The KRG and Makivik submitted a brief to the hearing Dec. 3 stating that Nunavik is opposed to uranium mining in the region. Tukkiapik told the hearings that community groups across the region have clearly stated that they're concerned about the environmental impacts of uranium mining on subsistence hunting and food security in Nunavik.
