Photo: Vandals trash Netsilik School in Taloyoak

Oct. 4 was a bad Sunday for Netsilik School and the AHS Natsiaq Pre-School in Taloyoak: “After a very good week of fun activities and events it was a very rude awakening to wake up to this,” said a posting Oct. 4. on the school’s Facebook page. Vandals trashed and tore apart thousands of dollars worth of school supplies. As well, many blackboards were pulled from the walls of Arctic College, its alcove covered in graffiti and burn marks, along with the school’s front doors and handrails. “We just finally came to the completion of a renovation inside and out and you’d never know it. It is very disheartening to see major dollars spent on upgrades done on places like the school, preschool, complex, hamlet etc. only to be faced with terrible vandalism like this done in the middle of the night.” (PHOTO COURTESY OF NETSILIK SCHOOL/FACEBOOK)
